Reviewed preprint

In Revista Mexicana de Cirugía Colorrectal, we are introducing the category of "Reviewed preprint" to facilitate the early dissemination of significant research. This initiative targets studies derived from the theses of final-year residents specializing in coloproctology. It also extends to final-year residents in gastroenterology and general surgery, provided their thesis topics are related to diseases or surgery of the colon, rectum, and anus. Residents must provide proof of their status as final-year students in their program.

Features of the reviewed preprint:

• Submission period: Manuscripts are accepted exclusively between February 1 and April 30 of the current year.

1. Approved peer review: Manuscripts must undergo and pass a peer-review process to ensure the scientific quality of the content.

2. Publication without final formatting: Once approved, the article will be published within one week on our platform. It will appear in a simplified format, without advanced editorial design or graphics, to ensure its prompt availability. Each preprint will be assigned a DOI.

3. Clear identification: Each preprint will include a visible note indicating its status: “Reviewed and approved article. Non-final format subject to editorial changes.”

4. Transition to official publication: Upon completing the editorial process, the preprint will be replaced by the final article, fully formatted and referenced. If not yet assigned to a regular issue of the journal, it will be published in the “Ahead of Print” section.

Objective:

This category aims to promote the rapid dissemination of relevant findings in the field of colorectal surgery while maintaining rigorous scientific standards.

Format and length:

Articles must comply with the requirements stipulated for the original article category. Submissions for case reports, images in coloproctology, or review articles will not be accepted.
